The MyWay Pedal is an elliptical training accessory designed to attach to size 2 and 3 MyWay frames. It facilitates movement in an upright, extended position, enabling users to engage lower limb muscles—particularly the anti-gravity muscles such as the calves, quadriceps, and hamstrings—at their end-of-range. This positioning contrasts with conventional cycling, which reinforces a flexed posture. Working in extension may help reduce the risk of hip and knee contractures and may help maintain or improve standing and walking ability.
The elliptical pedalling motion replicates elements of the gait cycle more closely than circular cycling, with a longer front-to-back movement that stretches the lower limbs and improves load-bearing around the hip joints. The device can be used in three ways: passively, for users unable to initiate movement; actively, with ankle straps to support movement; or freely, without straps for increased effort. An Android app is available to assist therapists and families with goal setting and tracking outcomes.
